Half Marathon and Relay 8:00 am
5K Fun Run 8:15 am
Living over 1000 miles from the trails the Caloosahatchee Regional Park, we can't help but notice the seasons are changing. Leaves are turning, sweaters and long sleeve shirts find their way out of the closet. In SW Florida the changes are more subtle, the afternoon thunderstorms don't come everday, the trails begin to dry, and there's hope that air conditioners will soon get a rest.
While we plan on having the same course you love to hate again, the summer rains and hurricane season may have a say. If you're heading to the Park to pratice running the trails it's best to check with the park staff (239-694-0398) as the trails may be closed if flooded.
Shirts -In the can't win for trying catagory, when I offer long sleeve shirts I get asked why long sleeves in Florida? Give out shortsleeves and more want the LS! So this time here's the plan: Half and Relay runners will receive a long sleeve performance shirt. The Fun Runners will receive a short sleeve shirt of the same material. These performance shirts are made from a lightweight 100% recycled polyester mesh fabric that wicks moisture and dries quickly. Depending on size, each shirt can keep 5-10 plastic bottles out of the landfills. These shirts are made in the USA and printed with non-toxic ink.
After the race, you can exchange a LS for SS, no charge, or upgrade from a SS to a LS for $2. This is of course limited to what is available.
RRR Hog Grant-let - We're pleased to announce that we will award the 2015 $2000 grant to
the Southwest Florida CISMA (Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area.) Their goal is to reduce the impact of or eliminate invasive, non-native plants and non-native animals. They will use the funds to target the invasive species in the Caloosahatchee Basin.
Registration is open for 2015
