Latest Updates

Caloosahatchee Regional Park, with its preserved native habitats and beautiful trails, probably would not exist today if it weren't for the foresight and efforts of Roger Clark. Roger was instrumental in the establishment, design and management of the CRP and many other Lee County preserves. I was fortunate to work with him on several projects -- he was a good friend, an avid birder and a talented and enthusiastic environmental scientist and educator.
The RRR will help fund a bench in tribute to Roger that will be placed near the Oxbow Trail that runs by the Caloosahatchee.  Proceeds from this year's RRR will cover some of the costs related to acquiring and installing the bench.  If you would like to make a personal contribution toward this memorial bench, please click the secure button below.

Registrations - There is not much time left to register at the reduced fee. Rates go up on 12/1. While we don't mind if you register after that date (there are bills to pay and proceeds to donate!) Don't wait until the last minute or you might find yourself reading about the results instead of being listed in them. Registrations are coming in a bit ahead of last year but there are still plenty of slots open. If and when it gets close to capacity it will be posted on this site so you don't have to ask! The Half Marathon/Relay is limited to 350 total runners. There is no limit on the Fun Run. If you want a refund (before 12/1) or to change events email RaceDirector@RRRTrail.com.

There is no Packet Pickup this year. Race Shirts and bibs can be picked up at the park on Race Day. Registration will open at 7am on Race Day at the Lodge.

Start of the 2013 RRR

Baby Hog on path
Life imitating art? A startled baby hog on the trail as the lead 5k runner rounds the bend in the 2008 RRR!

The River, Roots & Ruts is a great opportunity to experience Florida trail running at its finest. It is suited for experienced trail runners and novices.

While not a course for a PR, it will go down in your log book as a special run. The main event is a 13.1 mile half marathon utilizing both sides of the park: the wide nature trails on the south side and the single lane mountain bike trails on the north side.

For those in training for a race or just off one, or for those that may want to experience a little less nature we have a 2 person half marathon relay, over the same course. And for those that feel that 3.2 miles is just the right amount of nature we offer a 5K Fun Run along the wide nature trails on the south side of the park.

If you are looking for a flat, perfectly marked course with crowds, plenty of hoopla, thousands of other runners and a big mouse, you should consider running at Disney Cool running in 2006!World. If however you want to experience a beautiful and challenging trail with only a few hundred fellow dirt enthusiasts, have the chance to win an unique award and more door prizes than you could shake a root at, sign up for the RRR. Don't take our word on it, see what other runners have said about previous RRR's.

The RRR is sanctioned by the Fort Myers Track Club. Proceeds from this event help support the educational programs of Riverwatch (Caloosahatchee River Citizens Association,) Audubon of Southwest Florida, Southwest Florida Watershed Council, CREW Land and Water Trust, Friends of the Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves and trail maintenance by the Mudcutters Bicycle Club and the Caloosa Saddle Club.
